Ceroid Granuloma in the Biliary Tract

Abstract

|
|
Ceroid granuloma of the biliary tract is non-malignant epithelial condition and are most uncommon. The exact incidence is uncertain, because some are asymptomatic and others are unreported. Usually, it is associated with chronic cholecystitis and cholelithiasis. In this condition, the changes are focal and transmural, and the materials were accumulated in the histiocytosis. We experienced a non-malignant neoplasm of the biliary tract which was not detected before operation, but revealed by frozen section examination during operation. To avoid the unnecessary radical operation of the biliary tract neoplasms, frozen section examination may be helpful diagnostic value. In this paper, we reported a case of ceroid granuloma of the biliary tract who came to surgery dept. An San hospital, Korea university because of objective jaundice and ascending cholangitis.
